INTRODUCTION:
THE ( INPSM ) IS A QUARTERLY PUBLICATION DESIGNED TO ACCURATELY REFLECT THE QUANTITATIVE SALES OF PHARMACEUTICALS IN IRAN (PRIVATE SECTOR) .
THIS STUDY PROVIDES INFORMATION ON THE ACTIVITY OF PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES AND SERVES AS A STATISTICAL TOOL OF ASSESSMENT OF SALES.
OBJECTIVE:
TO PROVIDE THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES OPERATING IN IRAN WITH AN ACCURATE TOOL BY WHICH TO MEASURE THEIR SALES AND THE SALES OF THEIR COMPETITORS, ON A REGULAR BASIS.
METHODOLOGY:
- SALES DATA IS COLLECTED DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURERS, AGENTS AND DISTRIBUTORS WORKING IN IRAN AND THEIR FIGURES INSERTED INTO THE STUDY
- A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF 200 PHARMACIES THROUGHOUT IRAN ARE VISITED ON A QUARTERLY BASIS, AND THEIR PURCHASES OF PRODUCTS RECORDED.
THE DATA IS THEN CODED AND PROCESSED BY A COMPUTER PROGRAM. DURING THIS PROCESS STRICT QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES ARE APPLIED. AT THE FINAL STAGE THE DATA IS ANALYZED AND THEN PROJECTED TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL.
SELECTION OF PANEL PHARMACIES:
THE BASIS AND CRITERIA OF SELECTION WERE AS FOLLOWS:
- PHARMACIES IN IRAN WERE CATEGORIZED ACCORDING TO THEIR DAILY TURNOVER
(A+) PHARMACIES DAILY TURNOVER ABOVE USD 600
(A ) PHARMACIES DAILY TURNOVER USD 400 – 600
(B ) PHARMACIES DAILY TURNOVER USD 200 – 400
(C ) PHARMACIES DAILY TURNOVER BELOW USD 200
- THE WEIGHTED AVERAGE OF EACH GROUP WAS CALCULATED AND FOUR SEPARATE PROJECTION FACTORS DETERMINED.
- THE REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF PHARMACIES IN IRAN
CALCULATION OF VALUES:
THE PHARMACY PURCHASE PRICE IS THE PRICE LEVEL USED TO CALCULATE THE IRANIAN RIAL VALUE.
THE PHARMACY PURCHASE PRICE IS THE PRINTED UNIT APPEARING NEXT TO EACH PRODUCT.
